What is up, my friends!
While there have been sharp declines, Bitcoin considerations, and world leaders at G7, the conflict continues to be at the back of our minds. Perhaps with things swiftly kicking off at the FIFA Club World Cup, somehuh sun peeking, dot pink reaching fever pitch, and the act of smart passing, it might be a good time to touch some grass or, if you prefer, your screens.
In this week’s Top Story we shall be getting onside Web3 with some coverage of the Polkadot faithful in Berlin and diving deep into FIFA Rivals, which is keeping many of us occupied. For those not into the digital variation of the beautiful game, we will be listing some alternative ecosystem gaming in our Featured Roundup.

Top Story of the Week - Onside Web3
Written by yay.oi
What’s scorin’, strikers? The inaugural FIFA Club World Cup is in full swing, and Mythical has timed the drop of its new mobile game to perfection, right on the opening whistle. While EA tried to steal a bit of the June 12th Rivals spotlight, the FIFA name now plays for Mythical. Anyway, enough of the pre-match banter, and let’s take a dive into FIFA Rivals.
You’ll find it on Google Play and the Apple App Store. On Google Play, it’s already netted more than 100K downloads, and it’s been climbing the charts in the Sports (Free) category on the App Store in many regions. With the recognised global branding behind it and casual gameplay designed for mobile gaming on the go, it’s no surprise that it’s making a strong start down the pitch.
No sign-up is necessary to get started, but you’ll want to register or link an existing Mythical account as soon as you can to access your NFTs on the web marketplace. After a quick tutorial (keep an eye out for easter eggs) you’ll receive enough cards to build your first team, and then it’s game on.
PVP matchups are tiered, which means you’ll begin in the Bronze III division, so don’t fret if your starting eleven are a bunch of Commoners. From the get-go, you’ll start earning upgrade packs from winning games and completing task boards, so it’ll be no time before you snag your first Rare player.
In addition, you could score some in-game currencies and collectible gear, including highly coveted Adidas drops. The most coveted asset of all is player card #01, a Mythical-tier Messi. It can be crafted by collecting five ultra-rare card fragments. Your best bet to secure them all would be to hit the Mythical Marketplace.
Moving on to gameplay, it’s an effective mix of turn-based and high-paced arcade action. When you gain control of the ball, you’ll be given a few moments to execute your next move. In between moves, however, you’re at the mercy of opposing defenders and a potential Super tackle that will rob you of the ball immediately…….

Featured Roundup - DOT Game Listings

Mythical Games’ launch of FIFA Rivals has gotten folks making supers, and for some, addicted to their screens. That said, if the beautiful game isn’t your thing, there’s still plenty of other gaming within the Polkadot ecosystem to get into. Here’s a list (non-exhaustive) to get you started:
Packing the field and catering to fans with NFL Rivals already gave us a taste of what Mythical Games could do. The impressive numbers are backed by the intensity of running plays, improving your roster, and the Chiefs.
Or why not get yourself behind a new set of wheels and go on the Nitro Nation World Tour? There are plenty of upgrades for car aficionados and tracks to race on.
If you prefer to explore and venture on missions, then the dark fantasy MMO Evrloot is worth considering. We went undercover on their S1 campaign and did some catchin’ up on S2. So far player retention has been solid, with around 10K participants.
For those more into traditional strategy games, how about ChessOnChain, who have an implementation powered by Polkadot rollup Unique Network? The chads over at Polkadot Africa recently hosted a competition and can walk you through how it works.
Still can’t decide how to get involved? You could always visit the Moonbeam Gaming Hub, which conveniently provides more information. From there, you can join in on N3mus’ weekly tournaments with a prize pool of $2.5K. The weekly lineup does vary, with ecosystem games titles that include: Pink Drop (casual), Zombies’ Bonez (cards), The Great Escape (platform), Olderfall (PVP), Data 2073 (cards), and even a familiar face in recent joiner Flappy Wud (arcade).
To the more serious gamers out there, do you have what it takes to become a Heroic Champion? Regardless of your gaming appetite, there could be some useful news for you in our weekly roundup. News found by the community. Curated by the community. Backed by OpenGov.
