July saw a notable improvement in the supply of content, and August has consolidated this trend. There were over 130 submissions and ~839 DOT awarded. We currently have 22 active creators embracing the way of WAG, where some will, more importantly, receive valuable feedback.
This time round, there were 7 creators that stood out. It’s worth noting that video content seems to be back in fashion. Thanks to the guidance provided by LV, creators are starting to master the format, which can arguably appeal more easily in any language.
In fact, LV has been working extremely hard with tons of content packed with tips for those wishing to learn. One approach that earned him 50 DOT is starting a thread with a 1 to 2 minute news recap video, then letting the audience explore the rest if the hook lands. Sharp images, debates, opportunities, reviews, foreign languages, and more can further enhance the format.
The strong use of video was also evident when LV covered the top 3 Polkadot ecosystem topics of the week. The individual pieces on the new Chaotic NFT marketplace, Capped and Stepped Inflation, and Gav back as CEO of Parity collectively was awarded 60 DOT. You should find the appropriate use of thumbnails, images, complementary information, and video effects.
Another LV collection that included insights about the IBP dashboard, the latest DV Cohort, and a 1 minute news recap received 56.5 DOT. While video is the primary content, the approach can vary by expanding with threads, using long posts, or simply letting the video effects do the talking.
When it comes to talking, don’t forget podcasts and video interviews. Under the Awesome DOT brand, Fardeen has been taking advice as well as feedback from LV. Last month, a deep dive into RegionX earned him 30 DOT. He also received 26 DOT for raising awareness of essential tools in a pod with the developer behind Dedot, a Javascript client for building with Substrate.
Using a video format seems to be the way to go for all our non-Anglo submissions. We have seen experimentation with TickTok, YouTube, YouTube Shorts, and more lately, Instagram. Check out César’s video on Polkadot Identity, which was awarded 15 DOT.
Also on a roll with Spanish-language videos is Nixon. His recent approach is to use the rule of three. Showing off three Polkadot ecosystem applications earned 20 DOT. Three essential concepts about Polkadot and three of the ecosystem’s popular games received 15 DOT apiece.
With video content gaining momentum and plenty of DOT awards, thread creators appear to have focused on showing how, in some cases with real-world examples. This approach can appeal to audiences and result in very solid impressions.
For the past few months, Jesse has been dialed in on the engagement metrics that some KOLs would be proud of. 28 DOT went to a timely thread that explains the Capped and Stepped Inflation models, the importance of this debate, and how to vote.
Dawud may have added to the debate about inflation by aptly working with on-chain data. His thread breaks down 5 years’ worth and provides insights into the behaviour of nominators and validators. Throwing in a memic image as an opening hook resulted in decent impressions and 24 DOT.
Hooking in Wall Street through Polkadot Capital Group was something that caught Lizkem’s attention. Her thread managed to raise meaningful awareness as well as 15 DOT.
With all that we have covered in this month’s report, do you have what it takes to raise awareness of Polkadot? Is creating threads or videos your thing?
